Carboline Carbocoat 115

Carboline Carbocoat 115 is a fast-drying steel primer that provides corrosion protection on structural steel. Well suited for fabrication shops that need fast cure to dry and handle times. May be top-coated with conventional alkyds or acrylics for colour, aesthetics or additional protection.

When applying a topcoat, Carboline Carbocoat 115 may be coated with Acrylics or Alkyds depending on exposure and need.

Preparation

General Surfaces: must be clean and dry. Employ adequate methods to remove dirt, dust, oil and all other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion of the coating.

Steel Surfaces: SSPC-SP6 with a 1.0-2.0 mil (25-50 microns) surface profile for maximum protection. SSPC-SP2 or SP3 as minimum requirement.

Mixing

Power mix until uniform in consistency. May be thinned up to 6 oz/gal (5%) with Thinner 10. Use of thinners other than those supplied or recommended by Carboline may adversely affect product performance and void product warranty, whether expressed or implied.

Application Conditions

This product simply requires the substrate temperature to be above the dew point. Condensation due to substrate temperatures below the dew point can cause flash rusting on prepared steel and interfere with proper adhesion to the substrate. Special application techniques may be required above or below normal application conditions.
